TRASH DAY!

Today, my neighbor hauled 3 giant bags to the dumpster. This removal occurred over the course of nearly a month, resting in staging areas in the upstairs hallway, then at the base of the stairs.

I arrived just in time to see the final steps, 3 bags, followed by a light sprinkle of the hose. I caught these pictures with my crappy phone camera, hence the hazy glow (i.e. not resulting from an emanating cleanliness).

Appreciation

Let's all take a moment to pay tribute to something so easily overlooked due to its hulking presence, its longevity, its crossing over into "furniture" status:

The BIGSCREEN television.

For the last several months, this furniture has served as a surface for the depositing of many other items: cleaners, varnish, meals, recyclables, mails, home improvement. By far, the best growth was the smaller television set which has been perched up top for nearly as long as the base itself.

These letters have moved from the edge of the sideways table (last week) to the floor behind the sideways table. They made their way to the upstairs hallway from where the mail is delivered. They are addressed to former tenants and will never be claimed by anyone.

For 2 days, from 10:30AM-12:30PM, this man took refuge here at the foot of the stairs leading to my apartment, sleeping soundly despite the noise and vibration generated by the loud compressor he was leaning against.

This could have gone on for days without any cause for concern. However, when I rounded the corner to head up the stairs, we made eye contact while he was peeing on the base of the stairway. It was wierd for both of us. I have not seen him since.
