Serious Tectonic Action

I took this photo during a very trashy, chaotic moment.  There was a great deal of trash being moved from pile to pile.  There were carpets thrown into the hallway.  This was some kind of serious cleaning manoeuvre.

The only way I could really sneak was with one of those sly camera phone moves.  The other images I recorded feature a close-up of my hand, blurs and other nonsense.

Hosed Down Again

A New Dawn (for the Hilary Duff Christmas Shrine)

This was an unexpected move.

Hilary Duff has relocated to this outpost across the parking lot. This is not affiliated with the apartment rental upstairs, but has become a satellite outpost with wall-art, seating, and... a trash pile.

Black Hole Open for Business

This hole has begun accepting items.

The concentration of articles surrounding the hole is fairly high. Indulging in close-up view, recommended.

As you undoubtedly recall, this was once a mere crack open to liquid-only transfers.

HE CAME, HE SAW, HE KICKED ITS ASS.

THE EXTERMINATOR CAME TODAY.

He said he was "disgusted" and explained that a clean home is a roach-free home.

The neighbors really took it to heart, cleaning fervently.

COULD IT BE THE END OF THE BLOG?!!?!???

PARTY !!!!!

This is totally amazing.

My neighbors rented some bright lights and a DJ and threw a big loud party; a 21st birthday party (actually incredibly sweet). The building's breakers were not down with the power needs for the party, so one guy at the party tapped into some amazing jimmy-rigging skills to bypass the breakers, somehow using this yellow cut-off.

The amazing part was the fact that the whole thing materialized in a couple of hours and disappeared without a trace. Not a bit of residue, aside from this power cord.

week of april 6 - The Season's FIRST COCKROACH

So, the morning of April 6, I woke up to find a 2-3 inch cockroach sitting here at the hallway entrance (Fig. A). He or she was quite despondent, slowly moving its legs and wings. In the background and alongside this are many of the articles found in previous posts, including some very large bags of trash.

Around 8pm, it was still there, and as I was about to document this, my neighbor stepped out of his apartment door (left). I was torn between the interest in the accrual of blog-featured droppings and the disinterest of finding one of these in my soup. I asked him if he'd mind throwing out the large trash bags in the hallway as cockroaches tend to be attracted to garbage. He said, "Cockroaches like the trash?" and seemed genuinely surprised by the connection.

Then, he stepped on it and kicked it over here (Fig B, C), 3 feet out the door into the corner of the stairway and said "here, no more problem," clearly believing this was true.

The next day, the cockroach was still moving around. Also found on this day, ironically, a bottle of cockroach killer (Fig D).

March 30: Week of the blue light

This black lightbulb appeared inexplicably in the hallway on March 30th, casting a party-style blue light on everything in the hallway. It remained for 2 full weeks, being replaced by a standard "Soft White" bulb on April 13th.
